Attractions
Enkhuizen breathes history and enchantment. These are our tips for a visit to this fortified town:
The Zuiderzeemuseum has an open-air museum and an indoor museum. With more than 140 authentic, historic buildings, the open-air museum forms a complete village on the Zuiderzee. Admire the craftspeople and play historic children's games. The indoor museum is the treasure chamber of the Zuiderzee: various collections are presented here with a modern approach. Every year a new theme of life around the Zuiderzee around 1900 is highlighted.
Sprookjeswonderland is the ideal outing for families and (grand)parents with children. With a variety of fun attractions, all the fairy tales come to life in Enkhuizen.
The home port of MS 'Friesland' is in Enkhuizen. This sailing monument makes the trip across the IJsselmeer from Enkhuizen to Medemblik. In Medemblik it connects with the steam tram to Hoorn.
The Drommedaris cultural centre in Enkhuizen is home to Cinema Enkhuizen. Besides films, there are also performances by cabaret and theatre artists. For current information, see: www.drom.nl.
Food and drink
Enjoy a bite or a drink at one of the many restaurants in Enkhuizen. Hospitality comes first. Fish, meat or vegetarian? There is a cosy place for everyone. In unique locations, often in historic buildings, artisanal menus are served, frequently using regional products.
