Fish from your own jetty in the inland waters of the IJsselmeer, at the fishing spots behind reception or in the fishing lake nearby.
The waterways surrounding our holiday homes are home to a variety of fish species, including common carp, mirror carp, linear carp, crucian carp and various species of whitefish.
The fish population mainly consists of carp weighing around 1 to 4 kg. We regularly stock the waters with additional carp to maintain a healthy fish population and enhance the fishing experience for our guests.
Looking for a bigger challenge? There are also some larger specimens swimming in the waters! Carp weighing 8 to 9 kg have been caught, although these larger fish are only caught occasionally.
Our fishing tip: you don't need heavy tackle. A fishing line with a diameter of 0.26 mm is more than sufficient, and a size 8 or 10 hook is a good choice. Even with relatively light tackle, you could be in for a big surprise!
No alarm clock to grab a swim and no car full of rods: at IJsselhof the fishing water is literally on your doorstep. While others are still unpacking, you are already relaxing at the water's edge.
The park's inland waters are connected to the IJsselmeer, so the carp can move freely. You notice this in the active feeding behaviour and the variety of catches.
The waters around the park hold a varied carp stock, including:
To keep the quality of the fishing water high, new carp are stocked regularly. In addition, exclusive Japanese koi carp are added twice a year. This makes for a striking and healthy stock.

The best months for carp fishing at IJsselhof are May to October, when the water is warmer and the carp are actively looking for food. Spring and summer evenings in particular are popular, as are early mornings.

The Medemblik 14 is suitable for larger groups and has a conservatory.
Most waterside homes in the park are suitable for carp anglers. The Medemblik villas in particular are on a sheltered ditch. Specific house numbers on the fishing water are: 746, 748, 750, 758, 782, and for the Wellness villas: 747, 749, 757, 759, 760.
Most waterside homes in the park are suitable for carp anglers. The Medemblik-type villas in particular are located on a sheltered ditch where lots of smaller carp swim. That makes this location accessible, but certainly not boring.
Some parts of the ditch have been widened to form small ponds. These zones create extra depth variation and are interesting for anyone targeting carp.

To keep the fish stock healthy, specific rules apply on the carp ditch. Please read them carefully before you leave.
Only Carp Pro Plus pellets (6mm) may be used as bait and groundbait. Both the pellets and bait bands are available at reception and can be ordered in advance with your reservation.
Fish as light as possible: small float, little shot, size 8 hook. Attach the pellet with a bait band. Throw some groundbait at a few spots on the deeper sides and fish there with your float on top.
For ledgering: use 30 to 50 grams of lead with a 25-centimetre hooklength, because of the soft West Frisian bottom. Want to fish heavier? Then use a helicopter rig, so the bait always lies on top of the bottom. Tip: use a back lead and keep 2 to 3 metres away from the bank yourself.
A landing net and unhooking mat are compulsory. Bring them dry and clean to prevent fish diseases. Carp Care Wound Seal for treating wounds after a catch is available at reception. Return fish immediately after catching. Fine for violations: 50 euros.
Max. 2 rods per person. Night fishing is allowed provided it does not disturb other guests. Barbless hooks are recommended.
Carp fishing is possible all year round, but you will see the most activity when the water warms up. From May to October conditions are ideal and carp actively search for food.
Spring and summer evenings are popular, but early in the morning it is often surprisingly quiet at the water too.
Fishing on the park water at IJsselhof does not require a VISpas or fishing permit. Catch & release is compulsory. Want to fish on the IJsselmeer as well? Then you need a VISpas, available from the De Moel tackle shop in Wervershoof, 4.5 kilometres from the park.
